My name is Lauren Luna and this is going to be my second year teaching at Nolan Ryan Junior High. Prior to this, I taught elementary art for four years, while simultaneously teaching at the college level for three. I have been a teacher for 17 years, starting in Special Education. I have a Bachelor's in Fine Art with a painting focus from Kent State University, a Masters of Science with a focus in Special Education from Manhattan College, and a Masters of Fine Arts with a focus in Non-Figurative Studies from the Academy of Art University.
By day, I teach art. By weekends, nights and holiday breaks I am an active professional artist. My work can be seen around the city of Houston in places like City Hall, George. R. Brown Convention Center and local festivals.
I have one teenage son, Canaan. He and his guinea pig Sammie complete my busy life.
I love being able to share my passion for art to the next generation. My goal is that all children will have an appreciation for art and learn to become creative problem solvers.
I look forward to seeing you!
