Ms. Melanie Hubenak
Ms. Hubenak began her dance career as a young girl. She is studio trained in genres such as Jazz, Ballet, Modern, Contemporary/Lyrical, Hip Hop, Acrobatics, Tap, Improvisation, Cheer and yes even....Clogging. Dancing became more than a hobby, it became her passion and a part of her soul. The journey carried on to her high school years where she served on her dance team as line member and dance officer. There was no doubt that her goal was to be a dance director/teacher, choreographer and performer. Incorporating her love for children and teaching she continued her education receiving her Associates of Arts in Dance from San Jacinto College both South and Central Campuses. That was the beginning of many amazing opportunities and friendships. From there 'Ms. H' attended Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. GO LU!!! She now obtains a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Dance and Kinesiology along with a Texas Teacher Certification in Dance education grades 6-12. For the past 22 years Ms. Hubenak danced with a Modern Performing Company, choreographed several highest scoring/award winning routines and has taught dance to ages 2 years old - College Level. Her experience includes being studio director, assistant director and manager for competition teams, studios and High Schools in the Beaumont, Houston and surrounding areas. Ms. Hubenak also continues to teach private dance lessons/choreography during the summer and fall. In the spring she is a Judge for competition dance companies around Southeast Texas areas. After taking a break from education, she had 2 children, Ethan and Dylan...#boymom. From full time dance instructor, choreographer and then full-time mom, her dream came true when she was hired as the dance teacher at Rodeo Palms Junior High. The students stole her heart and 'Ms. H' knew RPJH Dance Department is where she belonged! Through perseverance of many changes our first year, then Covid, and our second year full of obstacles, Ms. H is looking forward to the upcoming 2021-2022 year!
"There is nothing better than to see her students smile after executing a dance skill they've been working on. The moment when you see the glow of excitement after performing for the first time is an overwhelming feeling of joy I get that is priceless. I am excited that this will be my 3rd year as Razorback's Dance Director.
WE are the Best!
