Mrs. Tiara Mikell

Hello! My name is Tiara Mikell, and as your child's theatre teacher, I am committed to creating a safe, enriching, and positive learning environment. I'm on a mission to empower students and inspire them to bring about positive change in the community.

I grew up living all around the U.S. as an "Army kid" namely Atlanta, GA, Fairfield, CA, and Kansas City, MO just to to name a few places...

I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Communication with a minor in Psychology from Texas Southern University, where I also became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. I went on to pursue my Master's Degree in Social Work from The University of Houston with a clinical concentration and have a special interest in using the platform of drama for advocacy, drama therapy & psychodrama.

I married my college sweetheart & best friend, who is also an educator & coach, and am blessed with 2 little "world changers" ages 10 and 7. I also have 2 "furry babies". 14 year old Ruffin, named after David Ruffin, the Temptation (one of my favorite groups and movies) and our pup, Luca the Goldendoodle.

Family is of the utmost importance to me, and I'm looking forward to adopting more children in my extended family. :-)

This is my 13th year in education as a teacher. Our classroom will be a safe space for children to express themselves, and build confidence and community using theatre as their platform. If you have any questions about your child's progress in the class, feel free to contact me!
