Mrs. Lydia Vélez
About Mrs. Vélez!
I am so excited to share my love of the the artistic world and journalistic writing this year!
My name is Lydia Vélez and this is my thirteenth year in education. I have taught some form of Spanish all of those years but am teaching art for the first time this year along with maintaining my position as Yearbook Adviser for the third year in a row. I have a strong background in art and a Bachelor's degree from Eastern University in Pennsylvania. I am originally from a small town in New Jersey, but moved to Texas to marry my husband, Manny. We have two sons named Eli and Elliott. Eli is 4 and Elliott is 2 years old. I have been creating and studying art since I was a child and have studied in Sevilla, Spain, Portugal, Morocco, and parts of Mexico.
I love to cook, read, CREATE, and learn about other cultures. If I could have a superpower, I would be able to speak every language perfectly! I love: purple & teal, black tea, teacups with saucers, Sour Patch Watermelon candy, & Harry Potter! (Once you see my classroom, you'll notice I have quite a llama collection, too!)
I can't wait to get to know each of my students and create masterpieces with you!
These are our dogs, Molly & Charlie. We also have two beta fish named Arlo & Dad.
