About Me
I am born on a Wednesday at about 3:00 AM in our humble home in Jagna, Bohol Philippines . I am raised by teachers - my Papa Ely was an Industrial Arts teacher while my Mama Luz taught 3rd through 5th graders. I have two older siblings. My brother Jay and his wife Ate Neng are both nurses in Houston. Their son Noah is at E.A. Lawhon Elementary. My sister Ria and her husband Givy currently resides in Cebu Philippines working as an account analyst and private contractor (engineer).
I moved to the US in 2008 to teach in East Carroll Parish in Lake Providence, Lousiana. In 2013, I moved to teach in Madison County Schools in Canton, Mississippi. I became a Portera after marrying a southern gentleman and passionate Italian husband, Matt. Matt is also a teacher in Manvel High School. With Matt, I gained another set of wonderful parents - Daddy Johny and Mommy Linda, who lives in Madison, Mississippi with my husband's brother. Matt's brothers Sam and Luke are also married to two beautiful teachers, Michelle and Meredith. We left behind four sweet nieces and nephews - Ella Kate (our Bug Expert), Alex (our Dancer), Rowan (our Disney Princess), and Baby Holland (our little Doll).
I have friends all over the world. They are the family I gained from work and school. I bleed maroons - University of the Philippines! Our university prides The Oblation. The Oblation (Google it and you'll find interesting pictures and videos) means "Clothe me with knowledge." I carry this message all the time and I hope you, my dear students, will carry it too.
I learn a lot from my travels and my socialization with people from all walks of life. In Desiderata (my favorite prose poem) it says, "even the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story". My husband and I like to explore different places and try to eat and cook good food. We watch various food shows. During football season, our weekends are filled with watching games. My husband's family are die-hard University of Mississippi fans. UM fans also say Fins Up! We love sports and are always looking forward to watch good games whether football, basketball, soccer, tennis, baseball, or badminton! My husband and I also spend time with family and friends, watch movies, and go to Church regularly.
I'm proud to be a part of the Shadow Creek High School family since the year it was established, and I'm looking forward to enjoy being a shark for more years to come! Fins Up!
