Please read the announcement on the home page for COVID-19 updates.
Due to COVID-19, this school year will look different. Many of the dates on the calendar below may happen in a different location, or in a different format. I ask for your flexibility and understanding as we navigate these waters together. Know this: we WILL sing. It may look different. It may be virtual or in smaller groups. But choir singing will still happen this year!
Masks are a requirement this year. I just want to reiterate that they will be even more important in the choir hall. As we emphasize consonants, this will greatly decrease large droplets from infiltrating the room. Please send your student with a clean mask every day. These masks, along with other measures, will keep your student and students around them safe during this time. Students will also be wearing face shields (provided at no cost to you by the choir department) to help reduce droplets and high frequency aerosol. Know that my priority is student safety. So, finding ways to sing and learn within these safeguards will be a common goal.
**Choir placement** Please know that keeping students home is your choice, and that students are still eligible to participate in UIL extracurricular activities (as per the AlvinISD website). Keeping students at home will have no effect on choir placement. Students will work on theory, sightreadingfactory, singing technique, and concert songs whether they are in-person or virtual. Concerts will either happen outdoors (with virtual students invited if they feel comfortable) or virtually.
PLEASE email if you have specific questions.
