A little about me

Hello,

My name is Daniel De Groot, and I teach Physical Science, Physics, Forensics, Anatomy and Physiology, and Zoology here at Alta-Aurelia. This is my 6th year teaching here, but I taught previously at other schools.

.

I grew up in Hull, and received my Bachelor's Degree from Northwestern College in 1988. I received a Master's Degree in Science Education from the University of Northern Iowa in 2006.

I live in Alta, with my wife Sheila, and my 3 daughters Morgan, Faith, and Jaclyn. In my spare time, I enjoy geocaching, camping, gardening, and spending time with my family.

I strive to keep my science classroom a place of learning about the world around us. I want my students to do scientific inquiry, and to be constantly striving to ask questions about the their world. I will utilize flipped learning in my classrooms. Flipped learning has the lectures as homework, and the traditional homework during class time. You can learn more about that on the link on the left.

I am looking forward to an amazing 2023-2024 school year.
