Secondary certificate equivalence for British Curriculum schools from the Ministry of Education:

• Copy of the Emirates ID and the passport of the interested party for all applicants and valid residence for non-UAE nationals and Gulf Arab countries.
• It is mandatory for Arabic A (First Language) students to complete the Ministry of Education Arabic Language curriculum.
• It is mandatory for all Muslim students enrolled in private schools to complete the Ministry of Education Islamic studies curriculum.
• All students are obligated to complete Year 13. (This is a change from before, where they could obtain equivalency from Year 12 only.)
• All students must obtain at least five GCSE/IGCSE subjects grade A* - E.
• All students must obtain at least two AS level (Advanced Subsidiary) subjects or one A level (Advanced) subject with grade A* - D. (The KHDA had previously stated 4 AS and/or 2 A level (the MoE have reduced this need, but we as a school encourage a broader range of study.)
• Original certificates for the last 3 years of study (Years 11, 12 and 13).

Salma Rahman - Subject Leader for Islamic - salma.rahman@alsalamcommunity.ae

She began her teaching career in a school in Dubai where she was coordinator for Islamic Education for 5 years, before joining Al Salam Private School as subject leader for Islamic B and IGCSE Islamiyat. She enjoys learning generally and Islamic studies especially and interacting with students.

Akmol Ali - Lead Teacher for Boys’ PE - akmol.ali@alsalamcommunity.ae

Akmol Ali, is the lead teacher for boys Physical Education at Al Salam Community School. From a young age he has been interested in participating in all kinds of sports, this motivated him to teach P.E so he could encourage people to lead an active lifestyle.

He completed his BA Sports Leadership & Development degree in 2017, where he then gained coaching experience through the Football Association of Wales.

This eventually led him to become a football coach for the Cardiff City F.C Foundation. Furthermore his last role as a School Coach enabled him to teach P.E to children in primary & secondary school across South Wales.

Akmol looks forward to teaching P.E in the brand new facilities at ASCS.
