Dear Parents,
As mentioned before many matters are being sent to my attention and in the course of redirecting the query to the relevant person, invariably delays arise. This of course causes frustration with parents. My PA is available to deal with queries should you want a prompter response via myself: PrincipalPA@alsalamcommunity.ae
My communication below provides further details about the expected protocols for communication from parents with the school.
This Thursday is Innovation Day in Primary. It will be an excellent way to end this half-term.
Intervention classes have also begun this week in Secondary for Years 11, 12 and 13. Further after-school classes will be planned for Years 7 - 10 later in the academic year.
Lastly, next week is half-term. I wish you and your family a restful break and look forward to seeing you all relaxed, recharged and re-motivated on Sunday 23 February insha'Allah.

BEng (Hons.) MA PGCE (Cantab.) NPQH NPQELRecent events have highlighted the communication risks between ASCS and the wider community including Parents, where key messages have been passed to the wrong individual causing a significant delay.
Therefore, the recent events have proved to be a reminder for the ASCS community. The response can be quicker and more effective if the relevant person is contacted first.
Levels of feedback
I have provided the link here for the Parent-Staff Directory to allow you to understand who is in which role and therefore who can give a relevant answer.
There are 5 tabs in this directory:
Levels of escalation - for learning
If the issue is regarding learning - please contact the teaching staff concerned (Primary Academic sheet or Secondary Academic sheet in the Parent-Staff directory).
Should you want a further response, please contact the Assistant Head in Primary or the Subject Leader in Secondary.
If then a further response is needed, please contact the Head of Primary, or the Assistant Heads in Secondary.
Only after this third level, please contact my PA for any further feedback from myself rather than escalate to myself or Senior Leadership in the first instance.
Levels of escalation - for out of class matters/behaviour issues
If the issue is regarding learning - please contact the form tutor concerned (Primary Form Tutors sheet or Secondary Form Tutors sheet in the Parent-Staff directory).
Should you want a further response, please contact the Assistant Head in Primary or the Year Leader in Secondary.
If then a further response is needed, please contact the Head of Primary, or the Assistant Head (Behaviour & Safety) in Secondary.
Only after this third level, please contact my PA for any further feedback from myself rather than escalate to myself or Senior Leadership in the first instance.
I hope this provides greater transparency and most importantly access to the relevant staff to provide a relevant answer.
Mr Amin
Our students in FS & Primary are currently working on their learning showcases for the end of the assessment cycle 1 of Term 2. Learning showcases are rich learning tasks that require the integration of learning in both group and independent work. Students use their knowledge and skills to create a product based on their given success criteria assigned by each teacher. A rubric is given at the beginning of the process of the Learning Showcase and students are informed of what they are expected to complete.
Our students have also started to plan out their innovation projects for next week: Innovation Week. The students will be working on the process of innovation which includes stating a problem and finding a solution for it. This develops their problem solving and critical thinking skills. We invite you to attend the presentation of the Innovation Project on Thursday 13/2/2020 in the following venues and times:
FS1: 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM - in the Free Zoning Hall (Primary)
FS2: 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM - in the Free Zoning Hall (FS)
Year 1 to 6 - 1:30 to 2:35 PM - in the School Gym
Please enjoy the following pictures from our exciting week:

This was the first tournament for the U18 basketball team, furthermore with just one weeks' notice the team trained hard with Mr. Akmol and Mr Andy.
Unfortunately, they lost their first game to their opponents, the second game the students worked really well together as a team to secure a 15-9 win.
The players continued the great form into their final game were they controlled the majority of the game , unfortunately with only seconds remaining the opposition scored leaving all 3 teams tied with the same points.
Unfortunately due to the goal difference we weren't able to progress into the semi finals .
Great team work & desire shown by all players
