U.S. History Honors
Let me recite what history teaches. History teaches.
Welcome to Honors U.S. History! This course will give you the opportunity to increase your understanding of American history and identity. As such, we will go beyond a mere recitation of famous people and events, and will focus on the complex ideologies and historical forces that have contributed to the unique American identity. I am a firm believer that true education teaches the mind to think critically, and this skill will serve you better than any discrete knowledge you take away from the course. I also believe that classes are only valuable when they have real-world application, and applying history to our current world will be a major focus this year. The course will include an in-depth analysis of the history of the United States from 1877 – the present, as well as a brief review of the early history of the Republic.
Here at the website you will be able to access Unit schedules, assignments, and study guides. It is an essential resource if you miss class, and I expect you to return to class prepared for the days activities, including having assignments done that were assigned when you were absent.
