Technology Careers Project

Directions:

Step 1: Pick one of the computer careers listed below and do some research on that career to find the answers to the following questions. Record the answers on your worksheet.


      1. What is the name of the computer job?

      2. Give a basic description of what someone in the job does.

      3. Explain how computers and/or technology are used in the job.

      4. What kind of education/preparation do you need for this type of job?

      5. What is the salary range for this type of computer career (how much money do you make)?

      6. What makes you interested in this kind of job?


Step 2: Use the information you have found to create a project (poster or video/slideshow) in Adobe Creative Cloud Express. You must include at least 1 picture or video and answer all the questions from above. Be ready to share your project with the class.

Computer Careers:


    • 3D Animation or Graphic Design: A position where you design and create either a graphic or 3D animations for software programs, games, movies, and web pages; usually in with a team of other designers.

    • Customer Service: Helping customers with general questions relating to the company, ordering, status on orders, account information or status, etc.

    • Database: A job that requires creating, testing, and maintaining one or more databases.

    • Electronics Technician or Engineer: Assembling, testing, and repairing electronic equipment.

    • Engineer: An engineer designs and implements mechanical and electronic equipment.

    • Hardware: A position as a hardware designer, circuit design, embedded systems, firmware, etc. is a job that requires you to design and create a complete hardware package or portions of a hardware device.

    • Networking or System Administrator: Computer networking jobs involve designing, setting up, and maintaining a network.

    • Programmer or Software Developer: A job that requires the development or continued development and maintenance of a software program.

    • Quality Assurance (QA), System Analyst or Tester: This job requires that the employee test out all features of a product for any problems or usability issues.

    • Service Technician (Repair and Fix): A job that requires you to fix and repair computer and computer equipment. Often this involves removing a component from within the computer and replacing it with a good component.

    • Technical Support (Technician or Help Desk): Helping an end-user or company employee with their computers, software program, and hardware device.

    • Technical Writing: This position often involves creating or editing technical papers or manuals.

    • Security Expert: Test and find vulnerabilities in a system, hardware device, or software program.

    • Webmaster or Web Designer: Create, maintain, or completely designs a web page.
