MOABS Discussion for Rocky Mountain Families

Rocky Mountain Elementary families are invited to join Timpanogos School District leadership and a board member for a community conversation about the district’s ongoing Mother of All Boundary Studies (MOABS), which is exploring potential school closures, consolidations, and boundary changes.  This meeting will take place on Monday, November 9, at 4:00pm at Rocky Mountain Elementary.

This is an opportunity to ask questions, share perspectives, and discuss how we can best support students, families, and staff through potential transitions. Our conversation will focus on two important questions: If a school closes, what would help its students, families, and staff transition successfully to a new school? And if a school welcomes students and teachers from another school, what can we do to help them feel welcomed and become part of our community?

We hope you will join us for an open, thoughtful discussion focused on listening, asking questions, and considering how to best support our students and families through whatever changes may lie ahead.

Accessing ClassLink from Home

Did you know your child can access ClassLink from home? ClassLink is the secure login system students use to access instructional resources their teachers have made available to them, including programs such as i-Ready (for math) and Elefante Letrado (for Portuguese).

If you are interested in supporting your child's learning at home, we encourage you to check in with your child's teacher first to discuss what practice or support would be most meaningful based on your child's current instructional needs. Additional online practice is not necessary for every child, and we want to be thoughtful about how students spend their time on screens. We are also mindful of House Bill 273 and its guidance regarding screen time in different grade levels.

For families who would like to explore these resources at home, we have tutorials available in English, Spanish, and Portuguese (see links below). The instructions explain how to access ClassLink using a computer's web browser or an iPad.

School Store Volunteers

As we look ahead to our next School Store on Friday, November 13, we would love to have additional volunteers join us. We recognize that a two and a half hour commitment can be difficult for some schedules, so you are welcome to share a sign up time with another person and split the shift. We may also explore offering shorter volunteer time slots in the future to make it easier for more people to participate.

Final Call for PTA Reflections

Calling all Rocky Mountain artists and creators, PTA Reflections is open! This year’s Reflections theme is “What My Culture Means to Me.” Students are invited to get creative, share what the theme means to them, and submit their work through the Utah PTA Reflections website. Entries must be submitted by Tuesday, October 20!

Submission Requirements: 

• Only new pieces of artwork inspired by the theme may be submitted. 

• Each entry must be the original work of one student only.

• Dimensions must not exceed 24x30 inches, including matting.

• Framed entries are not accepted. Shadow boxes are not allowed.

• Accepted file formats are: JPG, JPEG, PNG.

How to Submit: 

• All entries must be submitted online at www.utahpta.org/ref. all judging will be conducted online. 

• Be prepared to upload a digital copy of your entry.

• Your school may request a physical copy of your entry for display purposes.

• Printed entries should be matted or mounted on sturdy material such as cardboard or poster board. 

• Label the back of physical entry with student's first and last name. 

Teacher of the Month: Community Recognition Opportunity

Rogers & Russell, a local Pleasant Grove law firm, sponsors a Teacher of the Month program to honor and recognize outstanding educators in Pleasant Grove and Lindon schools.  Teachers can be nominated by students, parents, staff, PTA members, or other community members.  Each month, a selected teacher will receive a $250 deposit to their classroom foundation account.

Families who would like to nominate a teacher can complete the Google Form linked below. This is a great way to celebrate the dedication and impact of local educators in our community, especially those right here at Rocky Mountain!

Art Submissions Needed for 2027 Character Calendar

Rocky Mountain students have an opportunity to have their original artwork featured in the 2027 Character Calendar, created by the Lindon Character Connection and the Wasatch Behavioral Health Advisory Board.

Students can create an original, colorful drawing that illustrates one of the calendar’s character themes, including: generosity, friendship, respect, integrity, courage, family health, preparedness, community and character, steadfastness, honesty, citizenship, and peace.

Artwork should be 8×10 inches in landscape orientation and must be the student’s original work. Please write the student’s name, parent or guardian phone number, grade, teacher, school, and character trait on the back of the artwork.

Artwork must be turned in to the Rocky Mountain Elementary office by Friday, October 23.
