Grey Areas

Grey Areas is a web service that rates postcodes according to their age-friendliness

Why?

The Queensland Government launched an Age-Friendly Community strategy in April 2016. At the core of this strategy are 5 key goals. All people in their community, regardless of age, should be able to:

  1. Stay active
  2. Stay connected
  3. Contribute economically
  4. Contribute socially
  5. Contribute culturally

Our goal

We set out to create a simple, visual tool that grades each postcode according to it's Age-Friendliness. We crunched a number of data sets to determine the ratio of seniors to various services that help enable the 5 key goals above.

How is your postcode? Do you score an "A" or an "E"?

Who's it for?

For town planners

Who need to make good decisions around the location of services, “Grey Areas” is a web service that visualises the availability of social inclusion offerings to aged people. Unlike reading through pages of statistics, our product provides a quick visual reference with the ability to dig deeper once the “low hanging fruit” has been identified.

For government agencies

Who need to allocate budgets according to the needs of aged people and develop age-friendly communities, “Grey Areas” is a web service that visualises the availability of social inclusion offerings to aged people. Unlike reading through pages of statistics, our product provides a quick visual reference with the ability to dig deeper once the “low hanging fruit” has been identified.

For property developers

Who need to find the most viable locations for their projects, “Grey Areas” is a web service that highlights gaps in infrastructure for aged people. Unlike reading through pages of statistics, our product provides a quick visual reference with the ability to dig deeper once the “low hanging fruit” has been identified.

For business owners

Who provide products or services to aged people, “Grey Areas” is a web service that visualises areas where the ratio of other businesses offering pensioner discounts is low. Unlike reading through pages of statistics, our product provides a quick visual reference with the ability to dig deeper once the “low hanging fruit” has been identified.

For empty nesters

Who need to look at downsizing once all the kids have left home, “Grey Areas” is a web service that rates postcodes according to the level of services available for seniors. Unlike relying on real estate agents, our product provides independent, fact-based report cards that can be easily understood.

For carers

Who need to to relocate, “Grey Areas” is a web service that rates postcodes according to the level of services available for seniors. Unlike relying on real estate agents, our product provides independent, fact-based report cards that can be easily understood.
