🌱The Backstory: A Note from the Creator - Why I Give a Hoot
🪷 Now that you know why you’re here, let me tell you a little bit about why this course exists (a personal note).
As a health professional, I’ve seen firsthand what burnout looks like — especially in the wake of COVID. I’ve watched brilliant, compassionate nurses and providers give everything they had to a system that didn’t always give back. The emotional weight of advocacy, poor communication, broken workflows, and constant pressure left so many people drained, bitter, or completely shut down.
It wasn’t just about exhaustion — it was about caring too much about too many things all the time.
We’re taught that caring deeply is a virtue. And it is — but only when it’s directed.

A Personal Note
What I’ve learned — in both my professional and personal life — is that you can care deeply without carrying everything. You can be present without being consumed.
In an article from Psychology Today, they put it perfectly:
“Anxiety’s greatest trick is that it convinces us to care about and pay attention to everything… even things that, in the larger picture, do not necessarily matter.”
That over-caring, over-attending mindset? It doesn’t just lead to anxiety.
It leads to burnout, resentment, and the loss of your peace.
Flipping the Script: Learning to Let Go
This course was created to flip that script. To help you reclaim your energy and stop guilt-tripping yourself for prioritizing what really matters.
It’s not about not caring.
It’s about intentional caring.
It's about honoring your capacity and letting go of the pressure to carry what was never yours in the first place.
Let's start with Module 1. As you go through the course, you will find links to assignments with PDFs. Feel free to type in your responses, or print the documents and write your responses by pen or pencil for an extra therapeutic space! You will find all of the modules linked below. The course is meant to be taken in order from Module 1, first, to Module 6, last.
