Welcome to the penultimate newsletter of the year and it’s another packed issue featuring the wonderful events and activities that have taken place over the past two weeks of our Summer term.
A huge thank you for making our Summer Fair such a wonderful success. It was fantastic to see so many of our existing families and new ones joining us at the fair – your presence created a real sense of community and celebration. I am incredibly grateful to the parents who volunteered before and during the event and the families that contributed. Together we raised a significant amount of money that will go towards resources for all our pupils.
My appreciations also go to our dedicated staff, who worked tirelessly behind the scenes and on the day of the Fair: planning, preparing, running stalls and staying late to clear everything away. Your commitment is truly valued. A very special thank you to our amazing site manager, Mark, whose hard work and quiet dedication before, during, and after the event ensured everything ran smoothly – we really couldn’t have done it without him.
If you have any suggestions following the fair, please speak to myself or other school staff on the gate. We would love to hear your feedback.
☀️ Keeping Cool and Comfortable in the Summer Sun! As the temperatures rise, we’ve been enjoying plenty of sunshine and outdoor fun, but it’s also a good time to remind everyone how we can stay happy, healthy, and comfortable during the warmer months.
💧 Stay Hydrated! Please ensure your child brings a named water bottle to school each day. Drinking plenty of water helps children stay refreshed and focused throughout the day.
🧴Sun Safety The sun can be strong, even on cloudy days. We recommend applying sunscreen before school and sending your child in with a sun hat, ideally one that shades the face and neck.
🧼 Keeping Fresh Warm weather can make us all feel a little sticky! A gentle reminder about the importance of regular bathing, fresh clothes and clean socks helps everyone feel their best. This is also a great opportunity to help children grow their independence by encouraging them to choose clean clothes and learn self-care skills.
👚 Light Layers Loose, breathable clothing is best for warm days, helping children feel cool and comfortable while moving, playing and learning.
Thank you for supporting us in keeping our school community feeling cool, confident and ready for the sunshine!
We had a brilliant time at our Sports Days last week! A huge thank you to our amazing sports coach, Ms Carly, for all her hard work this year—it's been wonderful to see how much our children have developed their athletic skills and sportsmanship.
The atmosphere was fantastic, with children giving their best and adults joining in the fun too. Parents and teacher races were a big hit!
A special thank you to Ms Shannon, our PE Lead and Ms Carly for organising such memorable events. And thank you to all the parents and carers who came along and helped out, we couldn’t have done it without you!
Congratulations to our winning teams - Green Team for KS1 and Blue Team for KS2! While these teams scored the highest points, we reminded all our children that everyone was a winner for showing fantastic participation, resilience, and teamwork throughout the events.
We are so proud of the effort and enthusiasm shown by every child.
Well done to all!
This week, our children led a thoughtful and informative assembly to mark Windrush Day - 22nd June 2025. They spoke confidently about the contributions of the Windrush generation to life in the UK, including their vital role in building and supporting services such as the NHS. It was a powerful reminder of the strength and richness that diversity brings to our country.
Thank you to Ms Ohemeng and to all the children involved!
Today, we had an artist visit us. We had a discussion of the Windrush, talked about memories and then each produced pieces of abstract art inspired by our own memories. Our art will be on display at our Open Evening in a few weeks. Please come and look at it. Some of the pieces will also be exhibited at Collage Arts over the summer. Details to be shared soon.
We had a fantastic time at our Summer Fair last weekend. It was a fun-filled day for the whole family! Highlights included bouncy castles, delicious burgers, freshly made drinks, a tombola full of amazing prizes kindly donated by our families, popcorn, hook-a-duck, tin can alley, tattoos, nail art, face painting and more. We were also treated to brilliant entertainment from our very own school orchestra and DJ, adding to the lively and festive atmosphere throughout the day.
To top it all off, our raffle was a huge success, with brilliant prizes donated by local businesses, including our very own Tottenham Hotspur Football Club!
It was a busy and joyful day, and we are so grateful for the incredible support from our parents, staff and governors, who all worked so hard to make it a truly special community event.
We are delighted to share that we raised over £3000 from the fair. We intend to use this to go towards additional books for your children and to be able to continue with our Forest School provision. Thank you to everyone who contributed. We couldn’t have done it without you!
A big round of applause for Mila-Rae in Nursery, who amazed everyone at the Summer Fair by guessing the closest number of sweets in the jar! With keen eyes and a pinch of luck, Mila-Rae’s guess came closest to the actual total of 86 sweets—what a fantastic achievement!
She’s now the proud owner of a big bundle of sweet treats, and we hope she enjoys every single one. Her win added an extra sprinkle of fun to an already exciting day at the fair.
Well done, Mila-Rae!
In preparation for their own production of Wicked, our Year 6 children had the exciting opportunity to watch the West End performance in London. It was a truly magical experience that inspired the children and gave them a real sense of the story, characters, and stagecraft. The trip has filled them with excitement and ideas for their own performance—we can’t wait to see it come to life!
Colombia Class entertained us today with music, songs and dancing. What a treat! We were given a fine display of their learning in music, writing and science. We particularly enjoyed seeing them act out the stories they had written and enacting the life cycles of humans, frogs and butterflies.
Thank you to Ms Kennedy, Ms Calin, Mr Ken and Colombia class for this fantastic assembly!
This week in Nursery has been filled with colour, creativity, and curiosity as our little learners explored Spanish, model-making, and imaginative play. Our budding linguists had a fantastic time during Spanish —greeting each other with cheerful “¡Hola!” and counting along with songs. The chefs were very busy café making and serving delicious meals as the children immersed themselves fully in role play. The children let their imaginations run wild after reading 'Where the Wild Things Are'. Justin made a Wild Thing with playdough.
This week, Year 3 have been busy exploring magnetic materials as part of their Science topic. The children tested a variety of everyday objects to investigate which materials are magnetic and which are not. They made predictions, recorded their findings, and had lots of fun experimenting with magnets.
It was a fantastic hands-on learning experience!
This week, Reception children said a heartfelt farewell to their butterflies as they released them into the wild. After watching them grow from tiny caterpillars into vibrant, fluttering butterflies, it was a magical moment filled with awe and wonder.
To celebrate the journey and remember how beautiful their butterfly friends were, the children created stunning artwork using bright colours, symmetrical patterns, and plenty of imagination. Each piece captured the unique spirit of transformation and growth, just like the butterflies themselves.
The experience has inspired so much curiosity, creativity, and care—it’s been a joy to witness!
Year 6 had a fantastic time exploring the Natural History Museum this week! The trip was both fun and educational, as we deepened our understanding of Evolution and Inheritance. From fascinating fossil displays to interactive exhibits, the visit brought our science learning to life in an exciting and memorable way.
We are proud to celebrate the rich diversity of languages spoken in our school community. Children can now wear special badges to proudly display the languages they speak. It’s a wonderful way to recognise and value the many languages and cultures that make our school so vibrant and inclusive.
Please look out for our children proudly displaying their badges; they are excited to share their languages with everyone.
We’re continuing to build our collection of multilingual story books and would love your help! If you have any children’s books at home in your home language that you’d be happy to donate, please drop them off at the school office.
Thank you for helping us celebrate and support the many languages spoken in our school community!
During our Refugee Week assembly, children explored the story The Moomins and the Great Flood, written 80 years ago by Tove Jansson. The story follows a family fleeing disaster in search of safety and a new home. This was a powerful way to help children understand the experiences of refugees through a relatable and thoughtful tale.
We also reflected on how this story connects to our school values. The Moomin family's journey showed courage in the face of uncertainty, kindness towards others they met along the way, responsibility in caring for one another, and curiosity in exploring the unknown. It was a meaningful reminder of how we can live out these values in our everyday lives.
Our Year 1 children had a fantastic time at Forest School this week! They worked together to build an imaginative travel machine using large sticks, sparking creativity and teamwork. The excitement continued as they shook the trees to catch green flies and explored the forest area with curiosity and joy.
It was a wonderful day of outdoor learning and fun!
Year 4 Nicaragua put on a fantastic assembly recently, proudly sharing their learning journey. They amazed us with their knowledge of volcanoes, collage art, sound in science and money in maths. A special moment was when they read the thoughtful letters they wrote to their parents, thanking them for their support.
The children also brought The Firework Maker’s Daughter book to life with great acting, songs and an amazing dance. It was joyful and energetic.
Well done Ms Ahmed, Mr Ken and the Nicaragua Class!
We had our final Bikeability sessions of the year. Selected Year 6 pupils had the opportunity to practise their cycling skills before heading out for a ride around Alexandra Palace, supported by the Bikeability instructors. It was a great way to build confidence and independence on the road.
Well done to all who took part!
Our KS1 Music Club has been buzzing with energy and creativity! Children have been exploring different instruments, learning new rhythms, and even trying their hand at steel pans. We’re so proud of our young musicians!
'Music is a universal language that embodies one of the highest forms of creativity' according to a paper published by the government in 2022. The paper also goes on 'It is also a vital part of a broad and rounded education'. We wholeheartedly agree.
That is why we ensure that our children have a good musical education, led by our wonderful music specialist, Ken Serukenya. Most children at the school receive a full hour of music education each week with a half an hour music lesson and a half an hour singing assembly. Following the National Curriculum, our children are given opportunities to use their voices creatively, play tuned and untuned instruments, listen to a range of music and experiment with how to create music. As parents and carers know, we also value giving our children the opportunity to perform in our class assemblies, our Christmas Shows and our musical showcases.
For the last two weeks, we have reviewed our musical learning. Teachers say that our children greatly enjoy their music lessons and look forward to them each week. We are very proud of the opportunities that the children have to learn different instruments as they journey through the school: percussion instruments, djembe drums, glockenspiels, ukuleles, recorders, violins and guitars. We are also pleased to extend our music learning beyond the usual school ours: our KS2 choir and our orchestra before school and our two Music Clubs after school.
This year, we have developed our music learning by subscribing to the Musician of the Month so our pupils have learnt new composers and musicians. Not only have our students learn about different musicians but also been exposed to different genres of songs from different parts of the world by diverse musicians. We have also invited the parents and carers of different classes into the school to share in their children's learning and we will continue to do this in the next academic year.
But really, it is down to how the kids feel about their music that is important:
"I think music is very nice as I get to learn the things I haven't learnt before .... difficult songs, notes, how to sing. Learning instruments is very cool." Anna, Year 3
"I like singing assemblies because when we all sing together it sounds good." Nil, Year 2
"I like learning the glockenspiel because it's really beautiful and it makes cool beats. I also like the Musician of the Month as sometimes we learn classical music, sometimes we learn about friends and sometimes they are from different locations." Aris, Year 2
"I think music makes me happy." Ocean, Year 2
Looking forward, we are hoping to add to our musical offer to enable children to access one to one or group lessons with a music specialist from the Haringey Music Service. A google form will be coming before the end of the year for parents to be able to express their possible interest in this.
Philippa Kennedy, Music Lead
