The Spring term has been filled with many wonderful moments and things to celebrate. One of my greatest pleasures as Headteacher is seeing the fantastic progress the children make at this time of year. Having settled into new year groups and classes in the Autumn term, it is in the Spring term that the learning accelerates. This was clearly demonstrated by Year Four’s Viking Museum this week, where our pupils talked confidently about what they had learnt and gave visitors a comprehensive tour of the work they had produced. Well done to all.
The term is ending on a high note with our Alexandra musical showcases where our children always impress us with their musical talent and singing. We have also enjoyed many exciting trips and visits this term, offering students enriching opportunities to learn beyond the classroom. All throughout the Spring Term our pupils and staff have demonstrated curiosity, courage, kindness, and responsibility, embodying our school values in all they do.
Thank you for all your support this term and I wish you a restful bank holiday. To those celebrating Easter, may it be a time of renewal, hope, and happiness. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on the 22nd April, ready for another term of learning, discovery, and new opportunities.
On Monday, we held a special assembly to celebrate Eid al-Fitr. The children learned about the significance of Eid and how it is celebrated around the world. Staff also shared their own Eid experiences. We encouraged our children to be curious, ask questions, and learn from one another, developing a deeper understanding of different cultures and religions.
Eid Mubarak!
On Friday 28th, organised by TfL and Bikeability, some of our year 6 children had the extraordinary opportunity to take part in a very exciting and fun event, together with children from other schools in the Haringey Council area.
They rode around Haringey, passing places like Finsbury Park, Alexandra Park and Muswell Hill.
They had a wonderful time and were able to put their cycling skills to the test. They did amazingly well!
This week, we continnued to celebrate our musical learning with fantastic Musical Showcases. It was a wonderful opportunity for our young musicians to share their enthusiasm, talent, and hard work with their peers and teachers.
The performances were filled with energy and excitement, showcasing the progress and confidence our children have developed in their musical journey. Well done to all our performers for their dedication and creativity!
Reception pupils were alive with joy and harmony as they took to the stage for a spectacular musical showcase. The event celebrated togetherness, positivity, and the simple joy of music.
Their enthusiasm was contagious, and the audience couldn’t help but smile and sing along, their performance radiated confidence, teamwork, and a deep love for music.
A huge congratulations to all the children and staff who worked so hard to bring this showcase to life. Their efforts remind us that music has the power to bring people together and spread joy. We are indeed a family at Alexandra Primary!
Our Early Years classrooms were filled with excitement and curiosity as our special visitor, a lifelike model turtle, made a splash! As part of our learning about sea creatures and ocean conservation, children had the opportunity to explore the fascinating world beneath the waves through hands-on activities, storytelling, and creative play.
The model turtle served as a wonderful focal point, sparking awe and wonder as children learned about the different types of sea turtles, their habitats, and the challenges they face in the wild. Through engaging discussions, they discovered how plastic pollution affects marine life and explored simple ways they can help protect the ocean—like reducing waste, recycling, and keeping beaches clean.
This immersive experience not only deepened the children’s understanding of marine life but also encouraged them to become young ocean guardians. Their enthusiasm and thoughtful questions showed just how powerful hands-on learning can be!
For Geography, Year 2 have been studying the Arctic and Antarctic. For writing, Year 2 have been exploring how to use persuasive language. Therefore, we decided to persuade Year 1 to visit us for a special Polar Day, We turned our classrooms into the North and South Pole and we shared our learning with Year 1. We also made polar bear footprints and snowflakes. It was an amazing afternoon.
Last Thursday, Year 2 visited St Michael’s Church as part of their Religious Education learning. The children discovered fascinating facts about how candles are used in the church and had the opportunity to explore the beautiful space.
To end our visit, we lit three candles together, making it a truly special and memorable experience.
A big thank you to St Michael’s Church for welcoming us!
On April 1st, Year 4 students proudly showcased their learning at the Viking Museum! Across all subjects, they shared their knowledge of Viking life, culture, and history through creative displays and interactive exhibits. Parents, children, and teachers gathered to celebrate the hard work and dedication of our young learners. It was a fantastic event filled with excitement, pride, and discovery!
On March 25th 2025, Year Four visited London Zoo as part of their science learning about animals. The children had an incredible time exploring the zoo, discovering fascinating creatures, and observing magnificent animals like lions, penguins, giraffes and many more. It was a fantastic day filled with excitement and learning!
This week, Year 5 had an exciting trip to the Science Museum to participate in the 'Feel the Force' workshop. Students explored a variety of forces, such as gravity, friction, and magnetism, through a range of experiments that made the learning fun and engaging. They also had the opportunity to visit the Space exhibition, which perfectly complements our current topic in class. A great day of discovery was had by our aspiring scientists.
Last week, Year 1 showcased their fantastic learning during their class assembly. The children confidently shared their knowledge and hard work with parents, teachers, and peers, impressing everyone with their enthusiasm and creativity.
Well done to all the Year 1 pupils for their brilliant performance!
The children in year 5 and 6 visited St Michael's School for an exciting football match winning two matches, drawing one, and losing just one. The children showed great teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship as they battled it out on the pitch. The match was a wonderful opportunity for the children to challenge themselves, make new friends, and represent their school with pride.
It was a fantastic experience for all involved and we are incredibly proud of their hard work and achievement. Well done!
Our two Music Clubs shared their learning from this week with their family and friends. All children played the ukulele, the djembe drum and the glockenspiel. Then, the friends and family had a turn. What a musical feast!
