G'day, I'm James 👋 (Ελληνικά Italiano)
I set this site up in a couple of hours during a day off, so excuse me if it looks a bit shabby.
Firstly, this is not a business - and I won't be trying to sell you anything. I already have a day job. I just want to help out my neighbours navigate the insanity of cybersecurity, tech, fraud and scams.
If you're just looking for general advice:
The Australian Government has created some really good resources on Cyber.gov.au - spend some time reading through the Protect Yourself section.
.. And if you'd like to see if your email has appeared in a public data breach, check out the website HaveIBeenPwned.com. A website created by a bloke called Troy Hunt who lives on the Gold Coast who'll send an alert to you when your email has appeared in a breach.
I'm James, and I live on Albion Street too! Depending on what end of Albion you live on, you've probably seen my bucket of lemons out front of my house at some point. My partner and I moved to Brunswick a little over 2 years ago.
I work professionally in cybersecurity (currently for a financial company - but I've worked at companies you've probably heard of, like RACV, Swinburne University, Deloitte or Salesforce), and I've been working in the tech industry for a little over a decade.
There's been a lot of news in the media, and some major data breaches lately. It's overwhelming for anyone! So I wanted to do my part and help out those in my community, starting with those who live on my street!
Somewhere you can go and ask anything cybersecurity-related from someone local to you. If I don't know the answer, I'll try my best to find out - or at least point you in the right direction.
For repeat questions, or questions that might be helpful, I'll publish them on this website.
This can be things like;
Figuring out if something's a scam.
Keeping your email, bank accounts and online stuff from getting hacked.
What to do after you've been notified you've been hacked!
My opinion on a data breach, a news article, or anything!
Finally, don't worry about asking your question "the right way". If I need more information to help answer your question, I'll ask!
