Our DaVinci program takes place in our Environmental Arts Campus at 40 Bay Street, Port Melbourne, which has been purpose-built to complement our innovative curriculum.
Our Environmental Arts Campus was built in 2016 with the fundamental vision of being the distinctive home to the DaVinci Project for our year-9 students. This campus has been purpose-built to allow students to study the environment, engage with our community and also to reinforce Albert Park College’s credentials as a leading learning institution and further our progress towards a zero carbon school.
In 2019 we expanded this campus to include the Gatehouse, located on Princes Pier. The Gatehouse is dedicated to the pursuit of environmental inquiry and provides a base for students to be involved in action-based research and environmental data collection and analysis.

Students will spend one day a week at the Gatehouse campus for their Environmental Inquiry and their Positive Education lessons. Students are expected to meet at the Gatehouse campus for the start of the school day and will be dismissed from the Gatehouse Campus at the end of the school day.
The Environmental Arts Campus consists of two heritage buildings - The Post Office and Drill Hall.
The Post Office contains reception, administration, conference facilities and breakout spaces for student learning. The building has been pared back to showcase its historical features and is presented with a modern fit out. High ceilings, polished concrete floors and distressed wall treatments are present throughout this space.
The Drill Hall consists of a large performance space with stepped seating, learning spaces, staffroom, the Marine Science centre and a student-led cafe. Jarrah floors, recycled materials and blackbutt timber are common treatments complement the strong industrial feel throughout the Drill Hall.
Sustainable features play a major role in the design of the building. Water storage tanks supply toilets, energy efficient lighting, and non-toxic paints finishes are used throughout the campus.
The site is naturally ventilated with heating supplied by a hydronic heating system
The Environmental Arts Campus, at 40 Bay Street, provides us with an exciting building concept and design - bringing heritage into the 21st Century.
Our Environmental Arts Campus functions exactly like our Danks Street campus. Students continue to have access to our library services such as IT support, photocopying and can borrow books from our campus library using our Infinity service. Support services for students such as first aid, sick bay and counselling are also provided.
Year-9 students have access to all APC College facilities at Danks Street before and after the school day as required. For example, students are able to attend the Danks Street Library & Homework Club.
Each day at lunch students have the opportunity to visit Lagoon Reserve for recreation time. Students who wish to use Lagoon Reserve at lunch need to meet the supervising teacher outside the cafe at lunchtime.
Students who arrive late to school need to sign in via reception. Students will need to enter via the public entrance located on Rouse Street. Parents/carers can approve lateness via Compass.
Our cafe is built around the concept of wholesome and sustainable food. This is a student-run cafe, where students prepare, cook and extend their culinary skills by cooking food from scratch each day which is then sold at recess and lunch.
Students and parents should be aware that pick-up and drop-off by car at the campus is difficult and parking is very limited. Council officers patrol the immediate vicinity.
Homework Club for students will be offered at 40 Bay Street on Mondays in Rooms 7 and 8.
Inspire Clubs operate during the week according to student interest and staff expertise. Students are welcome to approach staff to form new clubs.
Students have individual lockers that can accommodate their digital devices and other valuables. School bags are stored on individual hooks above or below the lockers. All lockers are to be locked with a school-approved combination lock. School-approved locks are available at reception.
