Research Associate Professor of Natural Resource Economics

My research explores human dimensions of sustainable systems, informing policy and decision making through applied economic analysis with a place-based focus on the rapidly changing Arctic. I collaborate with colleagues from other disciplines, communities, government agencies, and organizations in private, tribal, and public sectors.
I currently serve on the UAF Faculty Senate and the Research and Creative Activities Committee. I am also a member of several committees organized by the Alaska Invasive Species Partnership, aiming to prevent, detect, and manage invasive species in Alaska. I am a Co-PI and steering committee member of the Alaska Coastal Cooperative, providing a community-first-approach to climate resilience. As a board member of the Alaska Center for Appropriate Technology, I foster knowledge exchange about Net Zero Energy solutions, balancing energy production and energy generation of buildings and communities. I thrive towards carbon neutrality in my own private and work-related decision making. In my spare time I explore wild places on foot, in boats, or on skis.
As a board member of the Abbott Loop Community Council, I thrive towards Anchorage becoming a better place for all its residents. Sustainability, equity, and living with nature contribute to better neighborhoods by creating healthier, more inclusive, and resilient communities.
