Ice safety- vessel personnel will determine and monitor ice thickness and safety before and after science personnel are allowed onto the ice. Personnel on the bridge will monitor for ice cracks and movement.
Armed bear guard surveillance on the ice and 360 degree surveillance from the ship/bridge.
NO rescue swimmer (qualification in development)
