Face Covering POLICY on UAS Campuses

UPDATED SEPTEMBER 12, 2022

Everyone is encouraged to have a face covering available when on campus and at University sponsored activities regardless of location. Face coverings are freely provided near UAS building entrances.

Face coverings are required to be worn:

  • in the student health and counseling spaces;

  • in approved and posted indoor gathering spaces or events to increase safety for high-risk participants (approvals granted by UAS COVID Incident Commander);

  • anyone recovering from COVID must wear a face covering in all spaces for 5 days following their isolation period;

  • anyone exposed to COVID as a "close contact" must wear a face covering in all spaces for 10 days following their exposure.

When worn in required areas, face coverings must completely cover the person’s nose and mouth.

Face coverings are optional in all other situations. Anyone with health concerns is encouraged to consult their health care provider, and consider wearing a mask for protection. The UAS community is expected to be respectful of each another’s choices and consider the concerns of those around them.

Rationale

UAS is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for its students, employees, and visitors impacted by the risk of Coronavirus/COVID-19. This policy is consistent with recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Compliance and Enforcement

Implementation of this policy will rely heavily on the consideration and cooperation of the entire UAS community. All members of the university community share the responsibility of adhering to and enforcing safety precautions, and holding themselves and each other accountable.
