First Friday Black Artists Showcase

February 4

6-8PM

UAF Arctic Java

The First Friday Black Artists Showcase seeks to highlight the contributions of Black creatives to the visual arts. During this event, attendees will be able to view various pieces produced by local Black artists, interact with them regarding their art, and purchase their pieces.

We are excited to be hosting creatives Alyssa Quintyne and more artists TBA:

Alyssa Quintyne

She's camera shy, loves ice cream, and hoards candles. She's Bajan- American, 26 years old, and a community organizer in Fairbanks, Alaska. But among all, she's also an artist. And art is just something she does. Her work focuses on people and relaying their ethereal characteristics. She loves to incorporate flowers, fruits, and other elements of nature in her pieces, so there is a common theme of petals or flowing patterns. Figure drawings and sketches are another theme in Alyssa's work. She draws live, allowing her subjects to move and create new poses. She mostly works in watercolor, ink, and colored pencil.
