Soror MarQuisia Johnson, Basileus
Happy New Year Sorors!
I am honored to greet you as the 2022-2023 Chapter Basileus! I pray that you had time to enjoy your family and friends during the holiday season.
For almost 2 years we were serving in a virtual or hybrid setting. Now it's time to roll up our sleeves and return to our communities in-person to provide service to all mankind. Tau Rho Omega Chapter will return to face to face meetings, activities, and events. In order to attend and participate, you MUST be vaccinated....no exceptions. Proof of vaccination will be required to attend and wearing masks will be enforced. You may upload your vaccination card under "MY PROFILE" in Wild Apricot. Please note that we plan to take EVERY precaution to keep each other safe and healthy.
As we return to in-person meetings and activities, we have a unique opportunity to start the year off with a clean slate. There is a place for everyone to learn, grow and serve in Tau Rho Omega Chapter. We are over 200 strong and we are excited about the opportunity to work together again. The 2022-2023 administration is prepared to roll out our chapter goals during the January chapter meeting. These goals are designed to engage our entire membership to work together as a unified body in love, peace and harmony as we provide service to all mankind.
Let us love each other, be kind to one another, and help each other as we establish a "New Normal" within Tau Rho Omega Chapter! I'm looking forward to seeing what God is going to do in this season as we go boldly into our communities and beyond as women of Alpha Kappa Alpha!

CHAPTER OPERATIONS
This next phase-in will allow chapters to resume in-person chapter and committee meetings, community service, fundraisers, and sisterly relations activities subject to the health and safety protocols that have been developed by the sorority, effective December 1, 2021. These developments also apply to chapter foundations. Additional information regarding MIP and Chapter Chartering will be announced in the new year.
Full vaccination required: No exceptions. Please note that sorors must be fully vaccinated to participate in sorority meetings, activities and events that are held in person. There are no exceptions or exemptions. Proof of vaccination is required. Chapters must develop and implement protocols to verify vaccination status for all in-person events. Please be mindful that all in-person activities and events also must follow the Risk Mitigation Plan and follow CDC guidelines, including social distancing, in addition to state and local regulations.

“Vision of Excellence”
“Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap a good measure—pressed down, shaken together, and running over [with no space left for more]. For with the standard of measurement you use [when you do good to others], it will be measured to you in return.”- Luke 6:38 AMP
Greeting Sorors,
I am honored to serve with you as your 2nd Anti-Basileus during the 2022-2023 administration under the leadership of Soror MarQuisia Johnson, Basileus.
I am a Legacy, a Silver Star, a Life Member, and a three year member of Tau Rho Omega Chapter. As it happens, this is my second membership in the chapter. I left because of a personal commitment, but I knew as soon as I returned to graduate membership, TRO would be my home. TRO is the premier chapter in the metroplex! It is a place where everyone knows your name or at least acts like they do until they phone a friend. We are sisterly here and TRO is where we call home.
In the past, I have served and led on several committees, which have all been extremely rewarding. Although maintaining chapter standards and serving as the president of the Women of Pearls Community Action Foundation are two of my main priorities, I am committed to actively participating in the chapter's business.
Why do I lead, and what can you expect from me in TRO? Because it excites me. It motivates me. It brings me joy. Besides serving as a principal in my professional life, I serve in my church life as a deaconess and section leader in the choir, and I lead/boss my family (ask my husband ~ happy wife, happy life). It is now my pleasure to support the vision and mission of the TRO chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Although I may not have all the answers, I promise (1) I won't act like I do, (2) I will be collaborative when appropriate, (3) I will remain supportive, (4) I will listen for clarity, and (5) I will respond and act with dignity and respect.
Several weeks ago, our associate minister preached from Luke 17, and he challenged us with the question: "Are you that one?" I am ready for this next opportunity in TRO. I am that one.
With respect and sisterly love,
Soror Courtney J. Washington
