Meet the Year 6 Teachers!

Ms Helene Lissmyr

6A

Hello, I am Helene Lissmyr. This is my second year as Learning specialist and team leader for year 6 at Aitken Creek Primary School. 

I have taught for 14 years in a few different school settings. This year I teach Maths and CBL in 6A. I am sharing the grade with Connie Amoruso. 

When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my children, reading, spending time in nature (hiking, kayaking), travelling. 

I look forward to meeting you all throughout the year!

Hi, I'm Ms Amoruso. I am the Year 5 Learning Specialist and this is my 11th year of teaching. 

I have 2 children, Charlotte and William and when I am not teaching I am driving them around to various activities.

I love reading and am passionate about literacy.

Hello, I'm Ms Sims. Prior to becoming a primary school teacher, I worked for a major Australian bank for about twenty years, first as a Business Banking Relationship Manager, then as a Consultant in their Employee Learning and Development area. 

I am so glad I made the move to follow my dreams and become a teacher. I love teaching! I love working with my students to create a safe and fun environment for all students to develop academically, personally and socially.

Hello. My name is Samuel Taylor. I am very much looking forward to being your child’s teacher in 2024. This is going to be my second year of teaching at Aitken Creek. I have worked as a teacher for many years and work hard to try and make sure that I create a positive experience for your child. 



MRs KIRBY Owen - 6D

Hi, I'm Kirby Owen. This is my first year teaching at Aitken Creek Primary School, but I have been teaching for 8 years across different schools and in different roles.

When I'm not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family. I have 2 young children who like to keep me on my toes.

I love reading and doing arts and crafts.


MR CHRIS UNIACKE  6d 

My name is Chris Uniacke and I am very excited to be a Year 6 teacher this year. I have been teaching at ACPS for five years and this is my second year teaching Year 6.  

I am married to my beautiful wife Jackie and between us we have six wonderful children, Connor 20, Bethany 18, Harrison 16, Ella 15, Gabriella 14 and Chloe 12. 

I have a dog called Buddy, who is a Japanese Spitz/Bischon Friese cross. Buddy is a bit spoilt and loves to play and cuddle up with everyone in my family. 

MS MARYAM  GORIYA  6F 

Hi! I'm Maryam Goriya, and I'm delighted to be the teacher of 6F here at ACPS. This marks my first year at ACPS, and I'm thrilled to embark on this journey with such a vibrant community.

I have a passion for teaching across the curriculum, but I particularly enjoy diving into mathematicsand writing with my students. Witnessing their growth and exploration of new concepts brings me immense joy.

Outside of the classroom, I'm engaged and currently planning my wedding—a wonderfully exciting time in my life. I also have a love for sports, especially soccer and volleyball. Whether on the field or in the classroom, I'm dedicated to fostering growth and creating memorable experiences for all our year 6 students.

I look forward to an enriching and rewarding year ahead, filled with learning, discovery, and fun!

Meet the year 6 Education Support staff!

MRS TAJMA MANIKKUWADU 

Hi my name is Mrs. Tajma. I have been working as an Education Support for 6 years. I am so interested in working with students and continuing to build positive relationships with them.

I am living with my husband Sandun, son Booshana and daughter Dumini. My son studies at Melbourne University and my daughter is in Year 9 at MacRobertson Girls High School.

 

I love reading, playing sports and travelling with my family. I am looking forward to a fantastic year ahead with the Year 6s and supporting students with their learning.


MS TANEESHA PATTINSON

Hi! My name is Ms Taneesha and this is my second year here at ACPS! I am currently in my final year of study to become a primary school teacher at La Trobe University so I am really enjoying the opportunity to learn from both the staff and students in the year 6 team this year! 

 

When I am not at school , I really enjoy reading, baking, spending time with my big, brown fluffy dog (her name is Violet Crumble) and hanging out with my friends. I am looking forward to and incredible year and supporting everyone in year 6.

Hi dear families. My name is Mohitha. The students knw me as Mrs G. I've been working at ACPS for over 7 years. I've had the pleasure of working with all year levels and am loving working with Grade Sixers this year. They are filled with life and character. I also am part of our Literacy Intervention team supporting students develop their reading and writing skills. I love Numeracy too! I also work extensively with students needing maths support.
