Reno Air Racing Association

Welcome Letter

Welcome, and thank you for your interest in hosting the National Championship Air Races. After nearly 60 years in Reno, circumstances have developed that present the opportunity for us to seek a new venue to hold our annual air racing event. With this change, we are not only seeking to find a permanent home for our traditional 7-class race week, but also additional venues that may be interested in hosting perhaps fewer race classes in smaller, less complex events that will bring air racing to an expanded audience in multiple locations each year.

Our Request for Proposal documentation is below, which contains detailed information about NCAR as it has existed up to this point. We wish to strongly encourage not only bidders who wish to replicate the event in their respective communities, but also those who wish to propose suggestions, innovations, and alternatives that might add value and substance to our traditional offering. While our relocation is not something we had initially sought, we are very excited and encouraged by the interest the move has generated and the immense opportunity it presents to not only preserve our beloved sport, but to advance and enrichen it as we enter this time of transition.

Thank you again for your interest, and we are eager to engage and hear your ideas as the National Championship Air Races continue Racing for the Future!

Sincerely,

Fred Telling, Chairman & CEO

Terry Matter, Vice Chairman & Site Selection Committee Chairman
