With course selections right around the corner, many changes and additions are coming for the 2026-2027 school year!
One highly anticipated addition is a new Pilates gym class taught by Ms. Caviston. The course will focus on building strength and improving flexibility. Another option, Sports and Movement, will be the combination of the three current classes: Team Sports, Personal Physical Fitness, and Lifetime Sports and Activities. Students can take the class twice, and each enrollment will count as a gym credit.
Abington Heights’s photography classes are also changing. Though Photo I will remain the same, Photo II will be replaced by two new courses: Advanced Commercial Photo and Advanced Artistic Photo.
In the art department, the new class Unified Art is a great opportunity for students interested in teaching, particularly teaching art, and the opportunity to gain classroom experience. Students will learn instruction techniques while working with our unified students.
Students interested in business careers will also see updates. The current Keyboarding and Business classes will now be combined into Keyboarding & Business Tech. Additionally, students interested in management, event planning, sales, etc., a new class called Entertainment & Hospitality Events will give you the chance to learn the basics in these fields.
And our Comets interested in the trades will notice major changes as well. Intro to Tech will no longer be offered. Instead, Masonry, Woodwork, and Auto will each have their own introductory courses. Students will also now have the opportunity to earn certification in carpentry.
Registration on Infinite Campus will open on March 24. If you have any questions about the new classes, you can ask your guidance counselor or the teachers teaching the classes. Good luck with your classes next year! GO COMETS!
