On December 2, Abington Heights’ Science Olympiad team competed in their first tournament of the season. This competition occurred virtually at our high school.
Abington Heights placed highest amongst the NEPA teams, and was ranked 31st out of 73 teams overall.
The highest score received was earned by our Write It Do It team, where sophomores Olivia and Madeline Philips achieved 7th place overall among the 73 teams.
The second highest score was for Detector Building, where senior Serena Mokhtari achieved 8th place.
According to Mrs. Hopkins, the Science Olympiad coach, "The students did a phenomenal job with such an early competition. A virtual competition is just as difficult as an in-person competition, but the students came through with a placement in the top 1/3 of all teams, most of which were not from Pennsylvania. They could not have done this without the incredible support and preparation from their teachers and administration."
The next competition for the Science Olympiad team is on January 27 at North Pocono High School.
