About Fiddler
The nine-time Tony award winning musical has finally made it to Abington Heights High School! The play Fiddler on the Roof takes place in a fictional settlement in Imperial Russia in 1905 and follows a Jewish Dairyman and his family. The story follows how outside influences change their lives, and how life is unsteady like a fiddler on the roof.

The Crew
The stage crew is in charge of keeping the peace backstage. But really, the crew is truly an umbrella term for all the people who are in charge of props, costumes, make-up, microphones, spotlights, and set design. From the moment the musical is announced, they gather ideas for the most authentic looking scenery to make the play come to life. During the performances, they are backstage or in the tech booth making sure every prop and microphone is accounted for. They always say that they have the best seat in the house.
This years stage managers are:
Baylor Lounsbery and Noor Rutty
Their Assistants are:
Abigail O’Sullivan, Reenad Khan, Anha Islam, Maddison Tricario, Maya Kasim, Katherine Boykin, Eden Soter, and Josh Scheider

Highlights
Over this wonderful experience, we have been able to use local resources like a rabbi who was able to help everyone understand the Jewish culture and language. The director, Mr. Boylan, was particularly keen on having a historically accurate and respectful representation of this play and the rabbi helped out significantly with that.
Costume day is always an exciting occasion. No one, including the actors themselves, know how they are going to look in their costumes until about a week before opening night. The make-up team comes and glues on beards and gets to age the men by about 50 years. Hemming and final touches force the actors to adapt to their different clothes and get even more familiar with their characters. Costume day is when you know it gets real.
It’s 2 hours before the curtains are drawn back on opening night. Everyone gathers on the steps of the choir room meditating on what is about to happen. The sound of “thank you” and “good luck” bounce around the room as heart beats quicken and adrenaline flows. Everyone is excited, prepared, and sometimes terrified for the beauty that is about to take place.
The auditorium doors open and a flood of people swarm in. Mics are turned on, the stage goes silent, the last prop is counted, the buzz of the crowd is hushed by the peeling back of the curtain. A deep breath, and the music begins.
