Comet the Bear is Back!

After years of not spotting of our beloved mascot Comet the polar bear, he has finally made his reappearance. The first appearance of Comet this year was at a varsity soccer game in early fall. With this I was able to interview him on his experiences as the school mascot. As no surprise, soccer games are Comet’s favorite games to attend. “Its just such a chill environment and the people are always so happy to be there.”

He describes being the school’s mascot as freeing. “I feel so much more confident in myself behind the mask,” he speaks enthusiastically, “and I love making people smile and laugh.” 

As imagined, the younger kids at the games have absolutely fallen in love with the polar bear. Comet loves them back and is happy to entertain them. No matter what the weather forecast says, the mascot will always try to make an appearance. The most important thing about Comet is that he attracts attention to other games than football. “Don't get me wrong, the football team is great and all, but our boys and girls soccer teams are doing amazing. So are volleyball and tennis, too! I want to get people to show school spirit for these other sports!”
