The boys soccer team here in Abington Heights has remained undefeated since the beginning of their season. If you or anyone you know has gone to the games, you'd know how much sweat and tears have gone into the making of their team. They’re a team to watch, a team that's leaping to new heights.
Goal Keeper Phil Sykes, grade 11, claims that the player to keep an eye on is Kohen Stiles, a fellow junior. “He's so dangerous,” Sykes states, “from anywhere, especially cutting in from the outside.”
Stiles has been noticed on sports pages as a very skilled player on the team, making a large amount of the goals, leaving the crowd speechless and antsy in the stands.
Though, the players couldn't be this good without their motivation, their coaches. Sykes empathizes with this by explaining how all of them motivate each other to push and become better players everyday. Head Coach, Frank Dyska, is admired greatly among the team members. “We couldnt ask for a better coach.” Sykes adds.
The coaches aren't the only factor though, the fans play a big part as well. After an interview with Comet the Bear, Abington’s school mascot, he speaks about how great the crowd is. “It's lively, and definitely my favorite game to attend.”
The fans dress up according to theme and cheer on their favorite team. Abington’s soccer team is widely enjoyed among the school district and as a whole we are very proud of our Comets.
