LGBTQ+ History Month is celebrated annually during the month of October. But why? Why October? What's the point at all? All of that and more will be covered in this article.
Queer history month is celebrated in October coincide with national coming out day (October 11th) and the academic school year. It was established in 1994 by a high school teacher from Missouri.
The goal of queer history month is to encourage education on historical LGBTQ+ figures and events. LGBTQ+ history is super important to understand so we can learn from past queer leaders and continue to make strides toward equality.
