What happened last year?

The 2017 A Level pass rate was 99.2%. The various destinations of last year’s students are listed here.

Year 13 students attended Community Involvement placements, assisting at various organisations including Karibuni Children, Queen's Park Arts Centre, Calibre Audio Library, Bucks Goat Centre, Aylesbury Youth Action, the Natural History museum at Tring, Florence Nightingale Hospice, many charity shops and a wide range of schools.

Students attended a range of university summer schools, including courses at Bath, Southamptin, Oxford and Nottingham and eight students were Reading [University] Scholars. Two students gained places on the Eton College Universities Summer School.

We ran sessions on driving education for all Year 12 students to increase their awareness of the features of, and need for, safe driving, including a visit to the ‘Safe Drive, Stay Alive’ presentation at the Wycombe Swan. We also ran two Get in Gear Driving courses.

Students completed work shadowing, including working at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, House of Lords, Sea Life London and Allen & Overy. One student attended the University of Cambridge Law Conference and six participated in the 'Pathways to Law' programme at the University of Oxford. Others went to Berkhamsted School for Medicine and Law Taster sessions.

We visited Nottingham University and held a Higher Education Fair as part of our comprehensive and wide-ranging higher education programme for all students. A ‘Future Success’ Day was held in July for Year 12 students, using speakers from various universities and other organisations. Students attended taster courses at various colleges at the University of Cambridge and University of Oxford, and a large number attended taster courses at universities and colleges across the country.

A Level Art students visited galleries in Amsterdam and London. Modern Language students went on exchanges and trips to France, Germany and Spain, and we also had a trip to our partner school in India.

We organised an information evening for aspiring medical students and their parents/carers and a similar event for students considering applying to Oxford or Cambridge.
