ORGANIZE YOUR STREAM

• choose wether--you and/or co-teacehrs can post on the stream OR you can allow students to post on the stream (it is suggested to only allow students to comment on your posts to not clog it up)

• use stream page as announcements and reminders NOT assignments

ORGANIZING YOUR CLASSWORK TAB:

• create TOPICS to organize all your assignments (so they show up on the left-hand side of the classwork tab)

• you can organize your topics in a lot of ways, but it's suggested to do it by the week. Weekly checklists seem to work best for HS students.

• topics will show 10 at a time--if you have more, it'll be a view more button

• add day of the week and date when you post assignment

ORGANIZE YOUR ASSIGNMENTS

• organize assignments by weeks by creating TOPICS to show on the left hand side

• use Emoji's to let students know what assignments are practice, for grades, assessment, etc.

• use emoji's to color code assignments, day of the week, type of assignment/subject area, etc.

  • i.e. monday is red/tuesday is orange, etc.

RECOMMENDATIONS

Create a quick, video tutorial FOR your students and their parents on how you set up your Google Classroom.

Walk them through your set up--point out the classroom tab, explain the color codes/emojis, show how the topics are divided, show them the upcoming section where students can see all their upcoming due dates!
