Anomaly Scan in Bahrain: Type of anomalies detected, Maternal Characteristics and Recommendations for Improvement

The true prevalence of congenital malformation in Bahrain is unknown; mainly due to under reporting, late diagnosis and unavailability of perinatal autopsy. We have high rate of consanguinity, improper preconception care and uncontrolled medical condition complicating pregnancy which all impact on incidence of congenital anomalies. We try to identity maternal factors that might increase the incidence of malformation and suggest a plan for improvement.
