Dr. Nabeel J Al Moamen, MPhil, PhD

Dr Nabeel J Al Moamen is a co-founder of the Genetic Laboratory at Salmaniya Medical Complex (SMC) in the year 1999, a first of its kind in the Kingdom of Bahrain. He is the first to decipher the molecular basis of beta-thalassemia, alpha-thalassemia and G6PD deficiency in Bahrain. He was granted the prestigious Fulbright Scholarship in the year 2005; by which he finished his PhD in molecular genetics in 2010 at the University of Cincinnati in Ohio, USA. He did his MPhil degree in molecular biology at the Sorbonne University in Paris, France in 1998. Currently he is the head of Genetic Laboratory at SMC.

My presentation will outline the procedures and steps involved in the genetic testing services that we, in the genetic laboratory at SMC, are providing to the different health centers via the Genetic Clinic at SMC. I will present some of the accumulated data for these type of analysis that we issued over the years.
