“JENESYS” is a people-to-people exchange program launched in 2015 between Japan and the Asia-Pacific region. It is a successor program of JENESYS (2007-2012) and JENESYS2.0 (2013-2015). Approximately 23,000 people have participated in the inbound and outbound programs since 2015.
To promote mutual trust and understanding among the peoples of Japan and the Asia-Pacific region, and to build a basis for future friendship and cooperation.
To encourage an understanding of Japan’s economy, society, history, diverse culture, politics and diplomatic relations, and to build networks in these fields.
To convey information on the learnings of the program and the charms of Japan to the general public in the region through Social Networking Services and others by participants.
Participants: Youths including high school / university / graduate students and young professional individuals
Duration: Approximately 10 days (including online program)
Contents:
To attend lectures on Japanese politics, economics, society, history, and diplomatic relations to gain a deeper understanding of Japan.
To visit education and research institutions, high-tech and traditional industries, fine arts and traditional crafts exhibitions, cultural heritage sites, and local government offices. They will interact and exchange ideas with people in these various sites through workshops and other events.
To participate in homestays / home-visits with Japanese families, and visits to many parts of Japan that include various types of traditional performing arts and public entertainment events.
To convey information about Japan’s attractions through reporting sessions or Social Networking Services during / after the program.
