Thank you for showing interest in sending your child to our school. Our policy is under review and details of this can be found at the foot of the page. For now...
There is no guarantee of a place for children living in the priority admissions area. In the event of over-subscription places will be allocated using the following criteria in the order given:
- children ‘Looked After’;
- children living within the catchment area (list available at the school);
- children with a brother or sister currently attending the school in Years R-5;
- where there are medical grounds for admission (with supporting evidence);
- remaining applications;
In the event of over subscription in any of the above categories propriety will be given to those who live closest to the school measured by straight line distance.
Additionally, if an application is made for a child with a Statement of Special Educational needs and that Statement names The Westerings Primary School, the Governors are required to admit that child subject to The Department for Education Code of Practice on academy admissions.
Late applications will be dealt with in line with Essex co-ordination of admissions. Please see the Essex county council website for further information.
(Current pupils on role = 320. We currently operate a 2-form-entry system, with 2 classes in EYFS, Year 1, 2 and 3, then 1 in the other year groups.)
Considering moving your child to Westerings mid-year? Completing the online form via the following web link is the quickest and easiest way to apply for a Mid Year Primary school place:
As Essex CC still manage transitions, they have asked us to guide anyone who contacts us regarding a Mid Year transfer to our school to use the online form, rather than contact them by telephone. Further information can be located at www.essex.gov.uk/admissions
Should the Governing Body decide not admit a child to Westerings Primary Academy, parents/carers will be advised of their statutory right to appeal. Details of how to appeal can be obtained via the academy office on 01702 205511.
