Clubs and Trips
Every morning we have a breakfast club, for which we ask for a contribution of £1.00. There is no need to book this - you can simply turn up from 8.20am and the children get the choice of cereals, toast, juice, milk or water. They also have time to play before the start of the school day.
At the end of the day we try to enrich the curriculum further by providing a range of after school clubs. These can include, sports, dance, craft or ICT and the clubs change on a termly basis. For these clubs to run, we ask for a contribution of £1 in order to meet the costs of refreshments and of any coach fees we need to pay. These are clubs are available for all children at the academy. If a club is run by an outside coaching agency there may be a slightly higher charge to cover costs.
As part of their studies, children often make visits to places of interest. We believe such visits are invaluable in supporting the work the children are doing in the classroom, and encourage full participation. If there is a cost for admission and/or coach hire, we usually subsidise this, but do also ask for a voluntary contribution from parents towards the costs. However, no child is denied the opportunity to take part in a visit if parents do not contribute. A letter is always sent prior to the trip, giving information.
Annually, the older Key Stage 2 children take part in a residential visit lasting a couple of days. In recent years the children have gone to PGL at Caythorpe, near Grantham. Again, we feel that this visit—sometimes the first time children have stayed away from home—is an important step in the child’s development.
