Curriculum Structure – Yr 7-11
At SHLA, we are proud to deliver a rich and diverse curriculum, providing equal opportunities for all students and is designed to enable each individual to develop their maximum potential through a number of academic and/or vocational pathways. These are personalised to meet each student’s needs and to ensure that our students are fully prepared for the next stage of their education, training or employment. We ensure our offer both supports national and local need. We are delighted to be the only provider of Level 2 and Level 3 Animal Care in Milton Keynes and also to be able to offer construction in our wonderful workshop kindly built by SISK construction.
Our curriculum enables all students to become confident, articulate and to have the best opportunities in life. We endeavour to provide lessons that are stimulating, challenging, enjoyable and procure both knowledge and skills. In their subjects, students are exposed to a number of strategies including group work, practical work, problem solving and creative resourcing that support successful continuity and progression from their starting points.
Our Key Stage 3 curriculum is being reformulated for September 2019, with significant curriculum time for English, Mathematics and Science. This KS3 curriculum content is matched to age-related expectations so that all pupils can reach their potential by the start of Key Stage 4 at Year 10. Our KS4 curriculum enables pupils to start specialising in areas of interest and to challenge themselves to achieve the very best GCSE, BTEC and CNAT results.
Our current curriculum model is outlined here.
