Rights Respecting Schools Award
The Rights Respecting Schools Award (RRSA) recognises achievement in putting the United Nations Convention of the Rights of the Child (CRC) at the heart of the school's planning, policies, practice and ethos. A rights respecting school not only teaches about children's rights but also models rights and respect in all relationships: between teachers/adults and pupils, between adults and between pupils.
We apply the CRC by:
- enhancing the children's understanding of the rights of the child around school by linking their rights to the learning and facilities they have access to, displays and assemblies
- through specific lessons such as P.S.H.C.E as well as embedding it into the children's everyday life.
- weekly assemblies which explore their responsibilities to uphold human rights and learn about humans rights issues as a school, nationally and globally
