Big Sing Christmas Concerts
On Saturday, Year 3 went to Rayleigh Methodist Church to perform their Christmas concert to a packed out hall. We were treated to some fantastic singing by all of the children that attended. Well done year 3, we loved it and so did your audience!
On Sunday, Mr Baldwin's Class visited St Peter & St Paul Church in Hockley to take part in a special Christmas service marking the 1st day of Advent. Mr Buckle and Mrs Warner / Marjurum's class visited and performed at Bramerton Road Community Church.

The Big Sing Christmas Concert
Today Year 3 took to the stage to perform their Christmas concert to members of the Hockley Community. This is the first part of their mini tour of three performances. The children sang whilst our guests enjoyed afternoon tea in the hall. Next show will be at Rayleigh Methodist Church on Saturday 1st December.

Forest Schools - Session 6!
As this was their final Forest Schools session, Year 3 pupils had a choice of activities! They could build dens, have fun on the rope swing and hammock, make jewellery, use the flint & steel.....the list is endless! They all made journey sticks and shared their favourite memory of Forest Schools with each other!
Year 3 pupils visited Belfairs Woods! They looked at all the different plants and trees, seed dispersal, leaves, how plants grow!
Forest Schools - Session 5!
In the fifth Forest Schools session, Year 3 made 'smores' (with Marshmallows and biscuits), whittled sticks (to toast their marshmallows), worked on their dens, had fun with the hammock and made fires with a flint and steel! Another great session!
Year 3 pupils were visited by a representative of the Essex Fire Service to hear how to prevent fire and how to keep safe in the case of fire!
Neil Harris - Millwall FC!
The manager of Millwall United Football Club visited pupils in Years 3&5! Neil shared details of his his career in sport and then answered questions from the pupils! A really fascinating insight into a professional sportsman's career! All the pupils thoroughly enjoyed the sessions!
Forest Schools - Session 3!
In their third Forest Schools Session Year 3 pupils went bug hunting,made picture frames, had fun with the hammock and rope swing, made dens and also started some map work which will be continued!
Forest Schools - Session 1!
Year 3 pupils started their Forest Schools Sessions with a reminder of the Forest Schools Rules and boundaries! They also tackled a leaf identification challenge - they collected twigs and leaves from around the woods to then display!
Greek Day 2018!
There was a carousel of three activities enjoyed by Year 3 pupils on their Greek Day! During the morning they learnt about the Greek alphabet and then tried some writing, tasted some Greek food and tackled a Greek quiz! They also made Parthenon’s (in small groups). After lunch the theatre company worked with the children, reenacting a Greek market, experiencing life in an Ancient Greek home and retelling Greek myths! Bringing history to life!
Plumberow were visited by 'The Resilient Reader'!! Following a Parents' Meeting, KS2 pupils attended a fun filled assembly (photos of which can be viewed here)! There were also lots of reading based activities happening in classrooms, lots of book sharing and some absolutely FANTASTIC costumes! Everyone had a great day (including the staff!!) Thank you for your continued support in helping to make Powerful Learners of the pupils at Plumberow!
Science Day at Greensward!
A group of Plumberow pupils from Years 3&4 joined pupils from Ashingdon, Hockley and Westerings at a Science Day hosted by Greensward Academy!
They had a fantastic day and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the activities which included using a microscope to study plant and animal cells, carrying out a test to decide which solutions were acid and which were alkali, some chromatography, which involved colouring a pattern on filter paper and seeing how the colours separated and then, using electrical circuits, they looked at the relationship between voltage and current!!
A busy day!
Autumn Term - Roald Dahl Day!
Year 3 celebrated Roald Dahl's birthday with a day full of activities...quizzes, designing ingredients for George's Marvelous Medicine, making beards, reproducing the Enormous Crocodile and James and The Giant Peach, taking part in Trunchball games and lots more! In the afternoon they also 'tuned in' to the Puffin Roald Dahl celebrations live on-line (despite some hiccups with the technology)!
And of course, all pupils (and staff) wore their clothes back to front as per Roald Dahl!
