We are extremely pleased to inform all of our children and parents that for the academic year 2017/2018, Plumberow have been awarded the GOLD Award for our participation in the School Games programme! This award recognises the continued two hours of curriculum time our children receive in Games as well as our excellent participation in fixtures, competitions and festivals across a variety of sports. It also reflects the high number of pupils who attend our numerous clubs each week. We are very proud of this award and will continue to work to ensure we retain this status! Thank you to all of the staff, children and helpers who contributed to our success last year!

Castle Point and Rochford School Sport Partnership
Plumberow Primary Academy invests a portion of the Primary PE and Sport funding in working in partnership and collaboration with The Deanes through the Castle Point and Rochford School Sport Partnership to access a variety of services to benefit students and staff of the school. This allows us to be part of an infrastructure of 50 schools benefiting from guidance and development around high quality physical education, increasing the range and breadth of ‘School Sport’ opportunities and educating young people regarding healthy and active lifestyles.
Individual pupils and teams have been extremely successful in tournaments and competitions as can be seen in our Sports Reports issued termly.

It was HOT! It was SUNNY!! It was a FABULOUS DAY of Sport!! Well Done to everyone who played a part, and took part in our Sports Day 2018!! All Year 6 pupils should also be commended for their taking part in the annual Angus 600m race. Mrs Hardie joined us once again to present the trophy and to see the new board celebrating the winners of this very special race, held in Angus' memory!Happy Birthday too to 2 of our Year 2 children! What a party!

The manager of Millwall United Football Club visited pupils in Years 3&5! Neil shared details of his his career in sport and then answered questions from the pupils! A really fascinating insight into a professional sportsman's career! All the pupils thoroughly enjoyed the sessions!
Southend United Football Club!
Year 5 are currently benefiting from Plumberow's links with Southend Football Club. Members of the club are working with Year 5 pupils for 6 weeks talking about keeping healthy, exercise and diet etc. The visits will consist of practical elements as well as some written activities. The first of these visits concentrated on the importance and the benefits of exercise!
Sports Day 2017!
Another AMAZING day of Sport at the 2017 annual Sports Day! KS2 in the morning followed a carousel of activities followed by sprint races and the annual Angus Hardie 600m Cup! In the afternoon, KS1 also followed a carousel of activities, followed by sprint races and a 'Toddler' race! The day saw triumphs, medal winning but most of all, some fantastic sportsmanship!
This year, We also had a Refreshment Bar (sponsored by Williams & Donovan and the Co-op) plus, we sold ice-lollies at lunchtime. The proceeds of these 'extras' were to go towards the purchase of a defibrillator. Both areas were EXTREMELY popular and we actually raised over £1443!!!
Everyone was a winner!!
12 Plumberow Year 2s, 6 girls and 6 boys, went to Greensward Academy to take part in a PE Challenge Day. They were joined by 6 children from Westerings, 5 from Hockley, and 4 from Ashingdon. The idea of the day was for the 4 schools to come together and work with each other whilst taking part in sporting activities. During the day, in mixed teams, 6 teams in total, the pupils took part in different sports, testing themselves in a team and individually. The children took part in:
A Warm up, Putting, Frisbee Dodge Howler Throwing, Long jump, Diamond Cricket
Rob the Nest, A Gutter race, Blob Race and Square Relay Race!
The children continued on each activity until they fully understood the game, and how to get the best results. Each child from each School was a great example and each School can feel very proud of them! A presentation at the end of the day saw the children awarded with a certificate and Multi-Skill medal. A special mention must go out to the Greensward Year 9s who helped out throughout a very, tiring, rewarding, skillful day!!'
