Newsletter February 2018
Thank you to all who contributed to the parent survey. Results will be discussed at the Parent Forum. A number of parents did raise concerns which were specific to their children, however as the survey is anonymous it is hard to action appropriate responses. If any parents need to raise a specific concern please book an appointment to see Mr Hawkins.
PARENT FORUM – WEDNESDAY 21st FEBRUARY - 6.30pm
Following Mr Hawkins’ first half-term as the new Headteacher we would very much like to invite parents to join us at an open discussion about the school. This will be a chance for parents to hear more about a range of different topics related to the school such as the Parent and Community Advisory Board (PCAB), future plans and news from the Academies Enterprise Trust, as well as get feedback on the results of the Parent Survey. Parents will also have chance to raise any other topics which they feel may be in need of discussion (please note if it is a private matter it would be better to organise to see Mr Hawkins separately). Please note that unfortunately we will not be able to accommodate children at the meeting on this occasion.
PARENT & COMMUNITY ADVISORY BOARD (PCAB) – FIRST MEETING - MONDAY 26th FEBRUARY – 6.30pm
Thank you to those people who have volunteered to join the Parent and Community Advisory Board (PCAB). This will be discussed at the Parent Forum the week before, but anyone who has already volunteered or would like to volunteer is invited to the first meeting of the PCAB on Monday 26th February at 6.30pm. The structure and roles of the board will be discussed and formal arrangements made. Meeting to be held at North Thoresby Primary Academy.
WORLD BOOK DAY – THURSDAY 1st MARCH – WOODEN SPOON COMPETITION
Rather than dressing up this year we are going to try a new activity for World Book Day. Each child has been given a wooden spoon which they can turn into a character from a book – as simple or creative as you like.
In the foyer outside the school office there is also a range of resources from which you are welcome to help yourself in order to create your spoon character including pipe cleaners, felt, cotton bobbles, stick on eyes and even glue.
Some sheets with tips for making the figure out of spoons are also available in the box should you wish to take one and plenty of good examples can be found online.
Prizes will be available for the best entries. Thank you to FONTS for providing the spoons and resources.
Having consulted with the children to get their thoughts & opinions, the following clubs will be running after half-term:
Tuesdays - Fencing (Premier Sport) & Y6 Maths Club (Mrs Ellemore)
Wednesday – Craft Club (Mrs Wright)
Thursday – Yoga (Premier Sport)
Please remember that the deadline for ordering meals for the week we return to school is Sunday 11th February.
