As a trauma informed school we understand the importance of safety in order for young people to successfully be able to access their learning. Relationships are at the heart of what we do. Our therapy team work with all staff to ensure that sessions are aimed to improve emotional regulation skills, strengthen emotional literacy and to teach new coping mechanisms to manage distress. The option to be creative within sessions is offered so that there is not a pressure to solely engage in a talking therapy which some young people may find challenging. This may include art making, music, play and drama. Using different models allows us to tailor the sessions to draw upon the young person's strengths and find an outlet of expression that they feel safe using. Both individual and group work is available.
