The Art curriculum aims to ensure pupils learn about the work of a range of artists, designers and craftspeople and work within a range of contexts. The Formal Elements of Art fundamentals of Fine Art are revisited each year, with a focus on Line, Tones, Shape and Form and Colour. We have considered this carefully as pupils need to have mastery of these fundamental skills in order to develop pupils' visual literacy and their capacity for creative thought. Throughout the curriculum pupils will be given the opportunity to experience working in a wide variety of 2D materials such as pencils and paints and 3D media and materials such as clay and cardboard. There will be opportunities for writing and reading in the form of artist analysis. Pupils will learn that their analytical skills used in English lessons are transferable and how they can be used in art.
