Tigers - Y6
Welcome to the Tigers!
A very warm welcome to the Tigers' home page. Miss Billam is the Tigers' class teacher and she has the support of the teaching assistant, Mrs. Lazenby. You will be able to see Miss Billam out on the playground every morning from 8.40am if you have any questions or messages.
Our P.E. sessions this term are on a Wednesday afternoon. However, we often have P.E. at other times for example, when we have visitors such as Freddy Fit. It is a really good idea to have a P.E kit in school at all times.
Reading is an important part of our school curriculum, so please make sure that your child's book bag and home reading book are in school every day. I expect all children to read 3 times a week out of school as a minimum and I collect reading diaries every Monday. Please sign and date if you have heard your child read at home as we like to ensure all our pupils are changing books on a weekly basis.
Autumn term Theme work
Dirt, Disease and Dickens
Our theme for this term is Dirt, Disease and Dickens. In this topic we will be looking at many aspects of Victorian life from the coronation of Victoria as monarch through the changes during the Industrial Revolution to the death of Albert and the changing public opinion during the era.
Our class read this half term is 'Street Child' by Berlie Doherty which follows the life of a young Victorian boy, and will give us some insight into the lifestyles of the poor during the 19th century.
We will also be reading some abridged versions of Charles Dickens most famous stories throughout the term.
