Penguins - Y1

Welcome to Penguins!

Thank you for visiting our class page.

Meet the Penguins

Welcome to the ‘PENGUINS’ home page. Our class teacher is Miss Turnbull and our teaching assistants are Mrs Green and Miss Gallagher. You will see us outside most mornings from 8.45am if you have any questions or messages.

Our P.E. days this term are Wednesday and Friday. It is, however, recommended that pupils keep their P.E kit in school at all times as we often have extra P.E. sessions such as Freddy Fit.

We will listen to children read every day so please ensure that your child's book bag and home reading book are brought to school every day. Please sign and date if you have heard your child read at home to enable us to change their book when they need to. Reading records will be checked and books changed on a weekly basis.

Homework will be handed out on termly. You will be given five challenges to choose from during our current topic. You can also help your child by reading daily and signing your child's home - school reading record and practicing times tables and weekly spellings.

In Penguins our topic this term is 'Under the Sea.'

In this topic we will be learning about different groups of creatures, particulary those that live under the sea. We will discuss how they they survive under the water and look at the food they eat and food chains. We will also look at different habitats and why certain animals are suited to these habitats and how they survive. During Art, we will experiment with colour mixing and make a seascape picture. We will also practice our cutting skills when we make a moving picture.

Please keep an eye out for our class twitter feed and and don't forget we will be sharing all of our Wow! moments with you via Marvelous Me. Please send us a high five if you like what we are doing.
