Foxes - Y5
Welcome to Foxes!
Thank you for visiting our class page.
Meet the Foxes
Welcome to the ‘FOXES’ home page. Our class teacher is Miss Bulman and our teaching assistant is Mrs Good. You will see us on the playground every morning from 8.40am.
Our P.E. times this term are on a Wednesday and Thursday. It is, however, recommended that pupils keep their P.E kit in school at all times as we often have extra P.E. sessions such as Freddy Fit.
We will aim to listen to children read or encourage children to read in class so please ensure that your child's book bag and home reading book are brought to school every day. Please sign and date if you have heard your child read at home to enable us to change their book when they need to. Reading records will be checked and books changed at least every Friday.
Homework will be handed out on a Friday to be returned by Tuesday if it is to be marked.
Dirt, Disease and Dickens
In Foxes our topic this term is Dirt, Disease and Dickens. We will be looking at the impact of Queen Victoria, The British Empire, Victorian Inventions, changes in medicine, industry, other significant Victorians and events. We will also be reading a version of Charles Dickens - Oliver Twist and later in the term Street Child.
In Science, we will be exploring Space. Learning about the order of the planets and how the Earth, Sun and Moon move. Later in the term, we will be investigating forces including: gravity, air resistance, water resistance, magnets and drag.
Here you will find some useful links to websites which will help you with your homework.
www.activelearnprimary.co.uk/login : here your child will be able to access reading books and related resources which will support their learning at school.
Spellings are given out weekly on a Friday. All spellings follow a rule or pattern. Please help your child to learn these ready for a test on Friday.
