Maltings Academy is graded ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted and New Rickstones is graded ‘Good’. Both academies have a new state of the art building offering fantastic facilities.
Financial incentives are offered to trainees intending to train to teach in many subjects - see www.education.gov.uk/get-into-teaching/funding/postgraduate-funding for more details.
You should be a graduate with a C grade for English and Maths GCSE (or equivalent).
You should also have at least 10 days school experience or volunteering in a school before you start your training.
Subject Knowledge Enhancement Programmes
Don’t hold back from applying for teacher training in biology, geography, maths, physics, chemistry, computing, design and technology, or a language because of your subject knowledge. You may still be able to train to teach these subjects (and be eligible for the bursaries they attract) by building up or refreshing your existing knowledge with a subject knowledge enhancement programme. How do we select our trainees?
We will shortlist based on relevant school experience and appropriate qualifications.
Interviews will be held at the academies and will include an academy tour with students, teaching a lesson, a literacy test and a panel interview. You will be told in advance about the content of the lesson and the age group you will be teaching. It is a rigorous and thorough process, designed to get the best match of applicant to the places available.
At the end of your placement if you are successful in gaining QTS and have proved yourself to be a “Good” teacher, then we will guarantee you an interview for any teaching vacancies at both academies.
Our academies are committed to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. A Disclosure and Barring Service Certificate at Enhanced Level will be required for all posts.
