Please be assured that the Academy will stay open if at all possible during severe weather.
During adverse weather Mrs Baker will assess conditions to determine whether we should close. The decision will be made as early as possible in order to inform you and will be based on the safety of the site and the number of staff who are able to get to school and ensure students’ safety during the day.
We hope that you will appreciate that this can rarely be an instant decision, particularly when snow falls during the morning rush hour. You can access this information from the following:
- On the Home page of this website.
- On our Facebook and Twitter accounts.
- On local radio stations BBC Essex (103.5/95.3 FM) and Heart FM (96.3/106.2 FM).
- Essex's Emergency Closures Page
Messages will also be sent out via our school communication system with any updates.
The Essex Emergency Closures page will update as and when notifications are received, therefore it is recommended to continue to check or refresh the page.
If the decision to close is made after students have arrived on site they will be supervised until you are able to collect them or when we have received confirmation that you are aware of the situation and authorise them to leave. When public examinations are running, as they soon will be, priority will be given to ensuring that they continue according to the publicised schedule, and students should report to the examination venue on time. If we decide to remain open for certain year groups i.e. those in Years 10 to 13 approaching public exams, please make sure that your child makes every effort to attend.
Once a decision has been made to re-open after a closure, this information will be communicated via the website.
We hope you find this information useful, if you should have any further queries relating to the above please do not hesitate to contact the academy on 01376 512911
